What They Say About ‘2(X)IST MENS ESSENTIAL COTTON 3 PACK NO-SHOW TRUNK’
After going through a bunch of medical issues, and basically being unable to excercise properly for about a year, I gained a lot of weight and realized that most of my old clothes and underwear don’t fit properly anymore… I decided to go deal-hunting here on Amazon to find a couple of pieces to keep me somewhat decently clothed until I get back to my usual weight and body shape.
Let’s get the positive things out of the way first (because there are fewer than the negative things,):
$21 is a decent, budget price of a multi-pack of "big name" brand of buckaroos. These are made of a very thin ribbed cotton fabric, which is very soft to the touch with just a tiny bit of stretch, without being restrictive or overly heavy. The waistband is also soft, and very smooth… No scratchy, gross ribbed elastic here. The color (I ordered the Navy/Cobalt/Porcelain combination) is very pleasant… Nothing flashy, but not boring heather gray, either. The color has held up to being through the wash twice without fading at all (which is especially impressive for the royal blue/"Colbalt" color.)
Now, here’s the bad:
For most of my adult life, I have been quite conscienscious that I do not have what is generally considered a "normal" physique for an American male. I’m 5’9", and currently weigh 170lbs (my "normal" weight is about 140, which I know is skinny side.) Previously, I used to buy the XS size from AEO and the Gap, and maybe a size Small from some more expensive designer-type brands, and a 28" waist for pants. (At the moment, everything I have in those sizes is either uncomfortably tight, or on the verge of being unwearable.) I had never bought underwear from this brand before, because I could tell just from holding up a pair of size Small that it would be too big on me. Since I currently weigh about 30lbs more than I did back then, I figured that I’d check out this brand again, and bought a size Small in the hopes that they would be a good fit… Well, that hope was completely unfounded on my part. Disappointingly, these things are HUGE (bigger than any other size Small that I’ve ever worn.) And then on top of that, since these are 100% cotton (there is no nylon or elastene or any other synethic stretch fiber listed on the tag,) when the ribbed fabric stretches out (as it will invariably do as you move about over the course of the day,) it has nothing to snap it back into shape. Consequently, these quickly stretched out into ridiculously baggy and fairly uncomfortable and unsupportive wads of cloth.
I honestly feel that the only redeeming quality about this package of undies is the price. At $21 (or $7/each,) these are about the same price (and pretty much the same quality) as a 3-pack of Hanes or Jockey (both of which I consider to be extremely basic underwear- they work for some people, but not very well for me.) The fabric might be just a tiny bit softer than something cheaper, but the fit and their inability to maintain shape and support is really disappointing. (I mean, seriously, it’s not *that* difficult for manufacturers to blend in 1-5% of elastene.) If I had posessed any idea of how these would perform while being worn, I wouldn’t have purchased them (or I would have returned them before washing and wearing them.) As it stands now, I’ll just keep these in the back of my underwear drawer for emergency-only (a.k.a. "laundry day") use.
Again, truly nice colors and soft fabric, but the sizing and their inability to maintain their shape is truly disappointing.
My husband works in factory and manufacturing. He works 12 hour shifts and is very hard on underwear. Usually, it’s just a matter of a few weeks before the underwear becomes thin. And maybe another few weeks before a hole appears. He constantly has chaffing and soreness.
I bought these for Christmas, and my husband says that the underwear is extremely comfortable on his work shifts. He feels secure and his chaffing has healed amazingly! The thorough stitching is something to learn to appreciate, but it isn’t riding or causing any discomfort. I would recommend this to anyone who has difficulty like my husband. Looking forward to seeing exactly how long until a hole. 3 weeks in and they still look like new.
(+): Great everyday comfort; I wear them for work. Waist band is a nice fit, not overly snug or too small. Cotton material is of a nice weight and it supports well. Holds up to machine washing and drying.
(-): Design/fit is less than flattering, they do get a bit stretched out by the end of the day, so they look saggy. If you’re more into CKs, then these won’t be your top choice. If you’re looking for an upgrade from FTL, Hanes, etc. then you’ll be quite happy.
Overall, good comfort and a better fit and style than typical men’s boxer briefs.
This is the second time I have puchased this item on Amazon. Both instances utter disappointment. The first time they did not look like an authentic 2xist trunk, more like granny bloomers. This time trunks were not even sent. I received briefs instead. I kept them out of frustration. Ive learned my lesson. If the price seems too good to be true, guess what? Buyer beware. 2xist is a sexy fit on a slim physique. These are not the real deal.
Good underwear. These guys have figured out the shape of my body, and made room for it. They also took care that the brief is becoming to look at, not merely functional (as a good friend of mine says, "useful and decorative"). Good show. I wish there were more colors to choose from, but I’d still buy them if they were all one col
Very comfortable, fabric feels great, and they keep their size and shape after laundering
If you happen to be a slimmer guy who is blessed with a meaty behind like I am you will find that these do not fit you the way they should. There just isn’t any room for the junk in your trunk. they look great and they are fairly comfortable at first but slowly and surely they will begin to give you the crotch wedgie of a lifetime because of your meaty butt.
I’ve had this set of boxer briefs for well over three years. I’ve lost the red and the black briefs but I still have the grey ones and they are still going strong. The pouch area is a bit shallow, or perhaps the material is just not as stretchy as other brands. Overall they are somewhat comfortable and they have no issues with durability, and the only minor gripe is that there could be a bit more room for everything to fit in them.
I have ordered and worn 2(x)ist men’s briefs for years The quality and construction has declined.. This latest item has reduced the material in the construction, so it barely fits. Not pleased, as I ordered and laundered 9 pair.
These are fine and I like them. Surprisingly they run a tad small. These replaced the Evolve brand and don’t fit as well. The pouch isn’t as deep and the leg band is thicker so they ride up more easily than the Evolve brand. Plus they need to get rid of the tags. With all the tech out there now for clothing why are we still dealing with tags?
