I bought this as a school backpack for my daughter. She puts her books in the backpack, puts a water bottle in one of the mesh side pockets and carries it to/from school each day. The load isn’t too heavy and it’s only a quarter mile each way – but this pack wasn’t up to the task.

Within 2 months, seams along the bottom were starting to open up. Within 3 months the mesh fabric on the side pockets was starting to fray. We tried to keep the backpack together to get through one school year, but that was impossible. The pack was falling apart at the seams – literally. She’s using one of my old daypacks now, and we’ll have to buy her a new pack for the next school year – hopefully one that will last more than a few months.

I am told this made a little girl in Nicaragua share a great big smile!

My six year old loves it, and best of all it’s unique and not like every other backpack at school you see at Target for $30 or more. I still love Target, but $30 for a 1st graders backpack?! Nah, go with this option!
