What They Say About ‘2XU MEN’S ELITE COMPRESSION TIGHTS’
2Xu Makes a great product. I already have a few of their tri tops and shorts. I thought about getting the insulated version for winter and I am glad I did not. These are actually pretty warm on their own as long as you keep moving. They are all I need on my legs when running outside down to 20 F. I may pick up a pair of insulated to try for cross country skiing.
I feel the compression gives some added stability to my leg muscles and saves me some fatigue. They are very comfortable to run in. My first run was a 14 miler and I had zero discomfort or chafing.
A word on size. 2XU makes their stuff for athletes (smallish) For better or worse they don’t seem to be concerned with the fat guy or gall that is buying athletic garb. I am 5 foot 10 and 178 lbs and fairly muscular (for a typical endurance athlete) I went with the men’s large and they fit well. they are comfortable and provide some compression. Based on 2XU I could have gone with a medium and fit but it would have been tight.
The size chart with height and weight 2XU has on their website is pretty dead on. If you find yourself 9like me) in between two sized decide what you want. if you main want is compression for recovery then go with the smaller size. If you want it to fit easier than go with the larger size.
The tights are perfect for gym and cardio. They allow enough movement without being restrictive. I started using these to help improve performance and endurance during strenuous workouts. They work as advertised and look like they will last a while.
The main difference between the elite compression tights and the regular compression tights, is that the elite tights use a different (tighter) material around the hamstrings and calves.
A bit expensive, but the quality explains it. If you choose the right size, it worth each penny.
I was on the edge of the sizing chart and I choose the smaller one, but it turns out that it is too small.
I specially have trouble passing my feet from the leg openings (cuffs) and the cuffs did bother my ankles a bit. I also had trouble getting it off and after some time I damaged the stitches while taking it off, but if the size was OK, I think none of these problems would have happened.
Also even though it is very small, it is quite comfortable and cool and the sweat dries very quickly.
I also wished that this product had a version with feet compression.
Tough to order based on most reviews, no one give their weight, height based on the size they purchased. At first I didn’t think the "Large" would not fit me, I’m 225lbs 5’9" thick muscular BB 12% Body Fat: they are a real compression fit lol..The XL "may" be a good fit also I’m right on the edge of the size chart.
Either they run a tad small or I am just fatter than I realize. In either case, they are great compression pants. I had a pair of XL’s before but eventually they wore out. They lasted about 14 months and were used 2-3 times per week (and washed everytime, of course). I feel like I got great use out of them. Stoked to have these new ones. They are much better than many of the other compression pants I have tried. Makes you feel like you are wearing body armor on your legs. Great for basketball.
These are very high quality and very well fitting. These are absolutely not the cheap China made crap you usually buy and for the price, they’re just as good if not better fitting and compressing than my underarmor/Nike pairs. Wear these when I’m getting undue water retention from my supplementation, works every time
These are my favorite running compression tights. I also have several variants of CW-X (which are not bad, but compression not quite as strong and some are thicker/warmer in summer). I run with these year round and even in the 90 degree summer not too hot. Compression is VERY strong (which I like) and the fit is quite snug. You really need to tug to get them on/off, but I have never torn/damaged them even after many wearings/washings and not worn out. I am 5’9" 170# and I wear the small now, was 190# last year and wore the medium. Medium at 170# is not so snug, more similar to compression level of the CW-X items.
This review is for the compression elite tights. The main difference between the elite compression tights and the regular compression tights, is that the elite tights use a different (tighter) material around the hamstrings and calves. There are other manufacturers that create tights like this (ex CW-X), but I beleive that 2XU stitching and material is superior.
The tights are great for cardio, kettlebells, boxing, cross fit…you name it. They allow enough movement without being restrictive. I started using these to help improve performance and endurance during strenuous workouts. They work as advertised and look like they will last a while.
I wouldn’t recommend these for recovery tights…they are not tight enough for that purpose. Instead I would suggest the 2XU Recovery Leggings, which I wear post-workout or overnight to get fresh legs daily. Without these products, it would be difficult to exercise at full capacity everyday, since they help soo much with recovery.
FYI – I’m 6’1, 33/34 waist, 32″ inseam and the x-large was a good size for me. I could have gone with large-tall, but I prefered the larger fit.
The product that I received was not the "Elite" compression tights that are sold by 2XU. I know, because I’ve worn the "Elite" model before. These were just regular old tights, without any meaningful compression to speak of. Very thin material, as well. Do NOT buy.
Awesome compression pants. The first time I put these on, I immediately noticed smoother movement in my knees just walking around the house and testing them. Although i don’t have knee pain, i do "feel" my knees when i squat and run, but with these pants its like butter. These pants are also awesome for recovery, post-workout.
Some things to note:
Get the sizing info from the 2XU site for super-accurate measurements.
Have some patience putting the pants on. Start at your ankles and slowly work them up in the proper alignment so you get optimal comfort and compression.
