This spear is not 55" long, it is actually only 52.5" long, so I have been short-changed by 2.5". Very flimsy and shakes a lot when you hold it in a throwing position because the pole is too thin and wobbles too much. I don’t recommend this, you’re better off looking for a curtain rod that looks like a spear.

We bought this to go into our family room that is filled with movie posters and media driven decor. I was happy with how this item was packaged for delivery. It was encased in a hard cardboard tube to protect it. We had a 300 movie poster that we wanted to add this spear next to. Under close inspection, I was disappointed with many parts of the spear looking very cheaply made. When we tried to hang it on the wall, one side had a unattractive bolt and the other side had the manufacturer’s name stamped into the plastic; so it was put together in such a way that there is no “good” side. However, maybe the next one will have the bolt on the other side, who knows. This is meant to be displayed or used as a costume accessory. Because of its cheap construction, it would not last long as a child’s toy. But for our use, in a dark family room it ended up looking great.

It’s a good costume prop with a few minor issues:

1) It would be nice if the shaft was a wooden color.
2) It’s small for an adult costume. The costumes are based off of 300 which appeared to have 72″ or larger spears.

The construction of it is very cheap, which is fine for a costume prop of this type, but it feels overpriced.

EDIT: So I noticed that the price on this dropped. For reference, when I bought this I paid $26.

The spear is very flimsy, tip seems like it will pop right off. If you’re using it for a costume prop as an adult, I’m sure it’s fine. But I bought it as a gift for an 11 yr old child who actually wants to play with it, and it won’t last an hour. Very disappointing. The customer service of this supplier is excellent. Prompt delivery, and immediate response to my return request. A++++ for that.

The spear was received with a small bent place on the shaft. It was not damage done in shipping. Since we were only using it for costuming purposes for a teen, I wasn’t too concerned about it. The teen in question does’t play around with it so there was no pretend fighting going on, etc. The bent spot was weakened though and it did break halfway through the night.

This piece was perfect for my Spartan costume. It is made of plastic, just like any other costume store weapon. It looks exactly as pictured and is strong enough for anything you need a costume piece to do.

If this is for a child who will throw it or sword fight with it, it won’t last long. But based on the price and what I used it for, it was perfect. I do wish it was a little longer, as I think it was about 4 feet. But that also makes it easy to transport in a car.

The spear is extremely light, so it is easy to add to a costume. It is also sturdy enough to handle being carried around all day; however, it could not be used for any kind of mock fighting. The ends of the spear have been painted to look like worn metal, and the shaft is black plastic. You will not have to be too careful with it for fear of accidentally hurting someone.

Also, the customer service for this vendor was excellent. I would not hesitate to patronize them in the future.

Wow, this was really nice! I was kind of worried it would be damaged in shipping, but it arrived (USPS no less) in a fortress of a box that was actually easy to open too. For a costume piece, this is just perfect; really well detailed and lightweight, so you won’t sweat like crazy under your fake spartan muscle suit hahaha! Best part is, I banged it up quite a bit, but the two ends are still firmly attached to the plastic pole. Impressive!

The spear is definitely just a costume prop as advertised, it is a very light weight plastic. Our son likes it so that’s what matters, but I feel the price is way too high from this product.

Looks nice in my classroom. Go Mighty Spartans!!
